City Meet Warm Ups and Considerations

Good morning parents and swimmers,

City Meet is this weekend and we are extremely excited to have everyone participate. We really want to make sure that we are showing some Raptor spirit! With that being said, we will have two blue tents that we want all of the swimmers to hang out under when they're not swimming. We will also need to be at the pool at 6:30am on Friday and 6:00am on Saturday. On Friday, Dryland will start at 6:35 and Warm-Ups will be from 6:50-7:15am. On Saturday, Dryland will start at 6:05am and Warm-Ups will be from 6:20-6:40am. We will let you know the estimated end time when we find out.
A couple of things to remember:
1. Sportsmanship is important. Making sure that we stay in the water and say "good job" to the people we are swimming against should happen after every race. Making sure that we don't get out of the water until everyone in our race is finished is also important.
2. Accomplishments will look different for different swimmers. It is very common that, if you're younger or are new to swimming, you will drop a lot of time over the course of the season. That is a great accomplishment! If you are a seasoned swimmer or older, and you drop 1/2 a second or figure out how to do a perfect flip turn, those are great accomplishments too!
There are so many different things to work on as a swimmer that we have to focus on the positives and celebrate those while also learning from the things that we can still work on. Attached is a great article written by Coach Marcia regarding all of these things.
With all of that being said, please make sure you celebrate both your own accomplishments as well as the accomplishments of others!!! We are so proud of each and every one of you and we can't wait to have an amazing meet this weekend!
Let's Go Raptors!!!
