Practice Groups
Coaches use age as a guideline, but will use your swimmer's skill level as the primary guide. Attending a pre-season evaluation day is mandatory for new swimmers and will help the coaches place your swimmer in the group where they will be most successful. (Returning swimmers will be placed in their 2025 groups by default.)
Group Descriptions:
YELLOW: (~Ages 8 and under) Swimmers in this group have the ability to complete a 25 on the belly, swimming freestyle, and some fashion of effective swimming on their back. They must have a basic understanding of swimming skills- . Yellow groups will have fun improving their skills and learning proper technique! Swimmers who fail to meet the Yellow group standards, either on the day of the Evaluation, or later in the first week, will not be allowed on the team.
Safety standards WILL NOT be compromised. With 20-35 kids in the water at all times, coaches cannot provide constant instruction or always give lesson-type attention. If a swimmer cannot demonstrate independence in the water and is deemed by coaches and the board to pose a risk to themselves or others, they will not be allowed on the team.
GREEN: (~Ages 9 – 11) Swimmers in this group must have the ability to swim and compete in both Freestyle and Backstroke with some prior exposure to both Breaststroke and Butterfly. They will continue to refine all four of their swim strokes, having fun along the way!
BLUE: Ages 12 and over. Swimmers in this group have the ability to compete in all 4 strokes. They will continue to develop both technique and endurance with longer and more intense practices.
**The coaches may move your swimmer into a different group at any point in the season.
