Swim Meet and Gear Orders - please read

Hi everyone,

This is Cheryl Refuerzo, one of the Co-Volunteer Coordinators.

Let me share a couple of important items:

  • The home swim meet sign-up closes tomorrow 6/22 @ 9 a.m. Please sign up ASAP. Please ask if there are any questions. The reason for this deadline is Coach Avery needs to put together relays, and pull together the entries from other teams to create the meet schedule. We are hoping the Heat Sheets will be available Friday.
  • Gear orders have arrived. Feel free to have your swimmer pick them up front by the lifeguard station during practice on Thursday and Friday (for Blue, after their practice; Green - it will be there the whole time, for Yellow it will be there beginning of practice). We still have about about 5 or 6 VGV T-shirts from last season for sale for $5  - sizes are smaller, probably for mostly yellow group.
  • We still have some volunteer shifts open for this Saturday - please see the list and signup if you can. Please let us know about any questions.
  • For Saturday's meet: It will go for many hours, and it may conclude around 11-11:20 am. Swimmers therefore will be exposed a lot more to sun, heat, and activity compared to Intrasquad and regular practices. Please bring plenty of sunblock, water, and snacks/food.  Bringing pop up tents, sun-shade umbrellas, folding chairs, blankets to sit on, books, crafts, games, cards are a good idea for swimmers for rest and downtime between events. Fellow VGV pool parent Robyn M has been working very hard to have a great concessions stand. Consuelos Burritos, drinks, and other goodies will be for sale.
  • Friday and Monday at practice - optional FREE GEAR TABLE. Bring in swim related gear (e.g., last year's meet suit) that doesn't fit your swimmer anymore, and maybe another younger child can use and have it.

Let us know if there are any questions.

Thanks,

Cheryl
