4th of July BBQ Fundraiser for VGV Swim Team

Many shifts are filled and about 9 shifts are still open for grabs. Please sign up if you can! The fundraiser is a fun way to contribute and knock out your volunteer points.

Question: Why does VGV Team need to fundraise?

(Short-ish) Answer: The Village Green Velociraptors Team is run by volunteers under the guidance and volunteer leadership of the non-profit team, Vortex Swim Club. The BBQ fundraiser supports general costs for VGV Team which include: coaching fees, lane rentals for practices at VG, liability insurance for hosting swim meets at VG, and general supplies needed to run a team and swim meets (e.g., white caps, markers, labels, ribbons, clipboards, printer items, timers, and other office supplies). Right now the speaker and microphone are on loan but not property of VGV team. Many of the office supplies mysteriously disappear during swim meets so we are labeling everything.  Fundraising also takes place during Concessions at home meets.

**New: We are in the planning process and starting to raise funds for a Dolphin (electronic) timer system. The 4th of July BBQ Fundraiser helps toward this goal.

Speaking of team supplies and team efforts: Let's give a big thank you to the Bowell Family, Griffith Family, and McCollum Family who each purchased the folding tables used for concessions and computer data. (So helpful! In the past we borrowed these). The LaRocca family purchased the Officials' shirts  - thank you, these are wonderful.

Volunteer Points

There was some shifting around of jobs during the last swim meet, last minute volunteers who were able to help out, and some folks we were not sure if you were actually in attendance. We may email you separately to confirm if you did not sign in or check in with Brandy or Cheryl. There is a volunteer sign in sheet during meets and we take attendance. We will update the jobs in Swimtopia (your name will be listed in the job). If you notice any problems or have questions about points, please reach out.

Please don't forget to sign up aka "declare" your swimmers for the meet at Westfield this Saturday 7/1. Meet entries close Thursday 6/29 @ 830 am. sharp.
